I'm posting this to find out some opinions on what would be the best 5x7 door speaker to buy. I have 2 MA audio's and they sound alright but too many problems. I also have 2 Blaupunkt (i guess that's how you spell it!) speakers sound needs more bass. Any suggestions appreciated!!! smile laugh

Well, 5x7 wont give as good of a sound as a circular speaker will and will distort quicker, but i know that isn't what you are asking. 5x7's can still sound pretty darn good. I would go with the MB Quart 5x7's from carstereotime.com, they are only $75 shipped! This is probably going to be the best speaker for the money. You might also want to consider cutting out the rear doors and using 6x9's if you want more bass, but thats a lot of work, considering the 5x7's will just drop right in.

I installed a set of Pioneer 3-way speakers. They sound pretty good. I strongly recommend adding foam speaker enclosures. This helps tighten the bass and eliminates a ton of road noise. But the ones from Crutchfield had too much depth to clear the windows in the front doors. You have to shorten them as much as possible somehow. Good luck.

A 5x7 will probably not give upi the bass you want. In general the larger the cone area, the more air it moves and the more bass it produces. If you have no or want no dedicated subwoofer, then I'd try to fit some 6x9's in the doors.

I agree that 5x7's are going to give you maximum bass, check your pm's, I just send an idea I think will work great for you!

Thanks for the suggestions! laugh I think i'll take your advice and cut the doors to fit the 6x9's that would prodably be the best route to go.

Hey WilliamMHolla if you are still going with 6X9 go with some shallow fully Neo coaxials from companies like Lanzar, Planet Audio or Phase Linear.

Let us know what you purchase.

There is no reason that an oval speaker can't sound as good as a round speaker. Chalk it up as another car audio myth.
