So I mosy on up to Sears yesterday to pick up a new battery for my car. No big. I'm thinking I'll pick a 48mo. battery cause I probably won't have the car for more than another 4 years. I go in, "Yes, I need a battery for my 95 Contour SE, 2.5L."
"Oooh, you're not going to like the price."
"Why, what's up?"
"It's a special battery for those cars. It's the 'international' battery."
"What? It's not like it's a Mondeo or anything [hahaha...]."
"$99.99"
"What?!?!?"
"Yep...told ya."
"O...K....then. I think I'll shop around just in case."

So what's the deal? This was last night, so I haven't had a chance to check any other places. Anybody else ever get fed a line like this?

I love my Contour to death, but my 'vette is still my #1 baby.

If you don't mind the motorcraft battery, I shopped around at the different dealers and got one for ~$60. Don't know if that was a good price but it's better than $99.

My car turned 5 on Monday and it still has the OEM installed battery. I'll be buying Motorcraft when I replace it (before this winter). I still can't believe it made it through the past winter. I'll price all the local Ford dealers and go to the cheapest.

Heheheh..I still have the OEM as well, and I'm going on 7 years! Still starts up, but it's getting weak. Luckily in real bad situations, I can just get it rollin' and pop the clutch laugh As long as I've got 9v to fire the plugs....

I don't know about the other models, but the battery for the 95 has the poles reversed. I ran into that problem when I replaced my battery a few years ago. That is the excuse they gave me as to why it was more expensive. I don't know if that is a factor or not, that's just what I was told. Hope this explains it some.

If infact that is true, wouldn't that just mean you would have to turn the battery around to attach the cables???

I bought a Penske battery from Kmart last year for $50. It is the exact case style as the original and fits like a glove.
