Besides covering my trunk lid with sound deadener.. would it help to fill all the supports(they're hollow and sorta vibrate against the lid) with some expanding foam insulator like great stuff or something ya think ??

It sounds like a reasonable idea, but will take a few cans of Great Stuff. If you have known rattles from the trunk lid, I say go for it, but cover it up once done. I don't remember what it looks like under there, but make sure ther eare no wires you might need to get to. Or, ?I guess a knife can always cut it away.

I've used some expanding foam in my escort and it seemed to work decent. Go for it and let us know how it worked.

Ummmm. Be VERY VERY carefull when doing this!!!
I've personally only seen two attempts at it. One turned out just fine. The other [a late 80s Beretta] was ruined because the guy got a little carried away with the amount of foam placed in the supports. As the "great stuff" did its amazing expando routine, it actually caused the top skin on the trunk lid to "lift" at some places. The wavy panel created was EASILY noticable.

I'm not saying don't. I'm saying go easy with the stuff. [no pun intended ] If I'm not mistaken, it comes in at least two varieties, one being "minimal expanding". I'd have to say that's most likely the type you'd want to use. Good luck.
