First of all, sorry for my english... i will try to explain the most i can the problem I have, but english is very not my language what i'm good with.
So, it's winter and my driver door cannot be unlock from the outside AND the inside.
I will explain the inside problem later, but now it's the outside problem.
Last thursday, rainy and in the night the temperature drop to -15oC (approx 5oF) so the door and the lock get freezing.
But a friend tell me to check how the lock in the door is made to shoot some WD-40 or other thing to get the lock and shoot at the right place (because some door lock on different car made different: some lock go at the botton of the door and go up after, some go to the right and come back (like a "U") )
And from the inside, if I push my lock to lock the door, it's work, but I cannot push again to unlock the door, the buttom don't want. I need to open my windows and unlock with my keys... big trouble in winter if the windows cannot be drop down!
I hope a solution, because i leave my driver door unlock to be able to enter in the car. The driver door close well, no problem with that (sometime I need to close the door with some more power but nothing more than usual)
So if I can get a description on how the lock of my car is made, to be able to shoot grease and lubricant to get the most % of success!
My car is a Contour 1995, 4 doors, manual trans., 4cyl, 160000Km (99420 miles)

The best thing you can done IMO, let your car sit in a garage for a few hours if you can.
Spary as much grease as can can in the lock outside and in the latch when the door is open.
I speak french if that can help you, feel free.

Mais ou se trouve justement le systeme de serrure?
Je peux pas shooter de la graisse partout dans la porte!
Je sais que parfois les systemes partent de la serrure, descende jusqu'en bas et remonte en haut, d'autre vont jusqu'au font gauche de la porte, revienne vers la serrure, et j'en passe.
Alors ce que j'aimerais savoir c'est comment et surtout OU se trouve les rods et le systeme pour que je puisse shooter ma graisse efficassement

Si tu veux que ca soit r�©ellement efficace tu peux enlever le panneau de porte int�©rieur et tu auras acc�¨s a tout le syst�¨me. Par contre je ne te recommande pas de faire tout ceci, trop long pour rien.
Vaporise de la graisse en spray � l'aide d'une petite paille, habituellement fournit avec la bouteille,directement dans la serrure � l'endroit ou tu ins�¨re ta clef. Pour graisser le m�©canisme, ouvre laporte, et regarde sur le c�´t�© de la porte, environ � mi-hauteur tu va voir un trou avec un m�©canisme, c'est ce qui tient ta porte ferm�©e. Met beaucoup de graisse dans ce m�©canisme, n'est pas peur m�ªme s'il en sort.

If you want to have the best results, you can remove the interior door panel and you will gain access to all the locking mechanism. Eitherwise i don't recommend you doing all that, too long for the benefits.
Spray grease with a small straw, usually supply with your grease, in the exterior lock where you put your key. To grease the latch, open the door, look on the side of it, at mid height you will see and hole with a mechanism, this is the latch, that hold your door shut. Spray as much grease as you can in that mechanism, it doesn't matter if it comes out.

La graisse n'est pas le plus bon chose a utiliser quand il fait froid. WD40 est mieux parce-qu'il ne devienne rigide quand il est froid.
Grease is not the best for cold climates. WD40 or some such lighter lubricant will not stiffen up when cold.

Rust in the mecanism?
I spray "where" the WD-40 to be the most accurate?

Je ne connais pas le terme de "latch" en fran�§cais. Il s'agit du m�©canisme que je t'ai mentionn�© sur le c�´t�© de la porte.
I don't know what latch is in french. It's the mechanism on the side of the door i told you before.
