Hey guys- I have a Dell Inspiron 5100 laptop. The LED for the power light stopped working today. Usually it is out when on batteries, blinking when charging, and steady when on full AC power. Right now, it isn't doing anything. The on screen power meter says it is at full charge, running on AC power. I tired resetting my power strip, and restarting, and unplugging the power in the back. Nothing, it is still out. Any suggestions?

I'd say either a problem with the power supply, or the LED is bad. You might call Dell and see if they have any ideas.

I was thinking that too, that the LED is no good. I thought that LEDs had life times of 100,000+ hours, so I don't know, only had the computer 1 1/2 years. As long as it keeps a charge, I'm happy. Don't really need the light.

yeah LED's are supposed to have a long lifespan, but they do blow out. Pretty much every LED i put in my car is out right now. You can see about getting whatever board they are attached to replaced from dell, or you can take it apart and solder in a new one...but considering the effort involved, i'd just live with it.

i didn't use any resistors, all the door switch lights are out...might be connection problems, but I haven't had the time to figure it out.
