It is right about where your left knee is when sitting in the seat. (long story)

Okay.... Under dash, next to steering column, just forward of your left knee.
You aren't kidding about the window switches, I'm always opening the rear passenger side window with my knee when I'm trying to get comfortable (which never happens).

Okay, I sat here in my bathrobe reading this thread, wondering how in the world you guys can operate the window switches with your knees. So I went out in the garage and tried it on my 98 Mystique. The Contour must have the switches mounted in a different location because it is impossible for me to do it even if I tried.
The switches are mounted on TOP of the armrest, not the side, and even then my knees are nowhere close to them under normal driving conditions. I'm 5'11" and have fairly long legs. Move your seat back.

I agree, I dont even have power windows and my knee never even hits the window knob.

ok folks, I think the thread outlived its usefulness long time ago, but here's an interesting link I found from the list times: that's my reply!!! there was no way in hell I could do it in my '96: Originally posted by alex_96GL:

Is this another example of decontenting? I tried to push the buttons by the knee (not that it's quite easy to get there being 6 ft tall...) and my conclusion is that in my car it's only possible with an artificial leg with a bolt joint instead of a knee.
I can't find this message but I recall that someone mentioned that window switches became flat at some point. If this is true then instead of disabling the controls you should try to retrofit the old claster (not sure if this is possible though).
so the laugh is on me now. cause in '98 SE it's really really easy
