I've searched and not been able to find anything on the wiring differences between the 98 SVT and the 99 regarding the motor.

Finished initial buildup of 99 but I've got a wiring problem .

I've transplanted my 98 SVT motor into my 99 SVT.

I kept the 98 engine wiring harness on the 98 engine because in August, I'd spliced injector ends into it for the orange injectors with my 2000 LIM. Everything ran great. (before I wrote-off the 98 )

Unfortunately, there appears to be differences between the two harnesses and they don't seem to matchup (i.e. - pin #18 on PCM doesn't matchup, there are several unused pin on 98 PCM versus virtually none on the 99).

If I don't have to, I'd prefer not to pull the intake manifolds and remove the grafted connectors from my 98 engine harness only to re-graft them onto the 99.

Does anyone know if there are only a few PIN locations that need to be adjusted? If so, which ones?

Regards, Alan

Why not use the 98 ECU and save yourself MAJOR headaches?

I'd rather re-pin or, it appears more likely, install the 99 engine wiring harness and splice in orange injector connectors if necessary (major PITA disconnecting the 98 harness from everything at the rear of the engine now that the motor is installed), for two reasons:

1 - PATS: If I use my 98 ECU I'll need to tow the car to the dealers to have them re-program the keys, as they are set by the ECU. The car is at my mechanics home as I'm not physically able to do all of the work myself right now and it's a $100 flat-bed trip on top of the re-programing fee.

2 - ECU: I'd prefer to use the 99 ECU as it is supposed to have a more aggressive program.

I plan to get ADC to burn a chip in the spring, but as this will be done remotely via sending new dyno and A/F graphs to Keyser, that doesn't allow for test-n-tune sessions so, I'd prefer to start from as close to where I want to go as possible.

It maybe that I'm off on my thinking here (wouldn't be the first time ), but that's what is creating the dilema for me. It appears my best bet at this point is to rewire the 98 engine with the 99 harness.
