As much as I liked my Contour, once I blew the tranny I just decided to get it repaired and get rid off the car. In the future I would love to get my self a SVT.

For now I have a 1993 Mazda Protege....V6. Swapped in, is the V6 2.5L KL-03 engine from the Probe/MX-6. Needles to say this little car runs like a bat out of hell. This car is a real sleeper

Well the swap was not to bad. It took a little bit of work, the rad had to be cut a little. Its a very tight fit as you can see in the pics, there is no room left in the engine bay. Luckily I have a great mechanic who specialises in working on Mazda's.

And yes the car is quick. It really pulls on the highway. I have only had the car 3weeks, and since its [censored] weather outside + I put on winter tires a few days after getting the car I have not really had to much fun with it yet. I am assuming 14's for the 1/4mile. As far as highway speeds, the rev limiter is at 7800RPM, and it tops out at 240km/h. I have no reached that speed, but I was revving at 7100 in 5th and I can easily tell it will reach 240km/h.

A little more info on the car:

Its the MX-6 Engine
MX-3 Tranny and Flywheel
4-wheel disk break conversion
Lowered 1.8"
15" Honda Civic SiR rims for summer
2 1/2" Exhaust

I am surprised you have a mechanic who will work on mods like that. Car alarms scare mechanics around here! (NY)

i think what he means is that he is surprised that you could find someone to actually do that swap for you, because were he is from most people(mechanics) wont even think about doing a simple car alarm install.....something like that

Well its not like I "found" him I have known him for years. There are alot of shops and people doing engine swaps up here, I dont see why it would be any different south of the boarder

Thanks for clearing that up for me

I knew that swap was possible KNEW it!!!

I also have the KL-03 Mazda engine in my little precidia/mx-3! same platform as the protege, the BG platform!

I know a couple guys who have those engines in there early gen escorts, anyways... rpm tops out at 7800 rpm? how did you manage that? I can only hit 7000 on mine, or possibly 7200, but I'm also running a stock MX-3 ecu, on my kl-03 engine

anyways these engines perform great eh? I can probably run around a mid to high 14, not quite sure yet tough, will find out in the spring/summer!

but damn, you car is one hell of a sleeper! alot better then mine!

thumbs up on the ride man!

oh btw, just to clarify and not to sound rude that is NOT an mx-6 engine, as it clearly states on the valve cover "Ford" which means the motor is out of a Probe GT.

Well I know it did not come out of a MX-6, but its just a Valve Cover that covers. Its the KL-03 Mazda engine, what I am saying is its not a Ford made engine.

Its really great ride, I am just had I could not of had more fun before I needed to put my winter tires on. But I guess I will have fun in spring, I am also thinking KL-ZE Swap Yeah that car has a MX-6/Probe GT ECU that has been programmed. What sorf of Intake do you have on yours?
