My sway bar bracket broke without my knowledge and went sometime before I discovered it. Anyway, the sway bar kept on rubbing up against the gas tank and rubbed a hole in it. I cant put anything past a 1/2 tank in it or else it all leaks out. My question is....whats the best way to fix it besides putting in a whole new tank? New tank is too $$$. Thanks guys!

Don't think anything would adhere to the tank enough to stop a leak. You'll never be able to get the outside of the tank dry unless you run it bone dry. I'd say you're fux0red.

There are a number of gas tank repair kits out there for metal tanks; your problem is the plastic tank.

Quick Googling found this:

http://www.protechnology.com/advants4.htm

...that claims to be able to repair plastic gas tanks for motorcycles, etc. It's at least a place to start.

I've also heard of plastic welding that can be done on gas tanks (again, more commmon for motorcycles).

I hope this helps.

JB Weld is the best. Most stores including Wal-Mart sell it. Be sure to prepare the surface before using the JB-weld. I use alcohol to clean the surface with. I then use some course grit sand paper to make the surface rough so the JB weld will bond better. Then clean the surface again with alcohol. I have repaired gas tanks, radiators and engine blocks with JB weld. I use the regular kind because the quick kind sets too fast and doesn't seem to bond as well.

If it is a large hole, you can use a piece of window screen to help seal the leak. Apply the jb weld. Then put the window screen in place. Then apply another layer of Jb weld. The screen will hold the jb weld in place.

This may be a long shot but if the JB weld and screen (good idea by the way) doesn't work then would something like this work....go to http://www.aboveboardelectronics.com/pop/wnhow.htm

We are distributor for parts like these......I can get them for free.....if it would even work....just trying to suggest something.
