I'm having a problem with the blower motor in my Contour. There is apparently a short somewhere in the fuse block and the motor doesn't work very often. If I jiggle the wires, once in a while I can get it to kick on. Being as it's freezing cold outside, and I don't have a heated garage, I can't really get under the dash and find/fix it before I freeze. I was wondering if I wired a switch from my ignition to the power wire of the blower motor, would any harm come? I know that only High would work, but it's better than nothing. Any suggestions/comments/concerns would be appreciated.

Thanks for any help anyone may have.

I cant see that causing any harm, but I would install an inline fuse in the wire so you dont fry something. Then at least carry a couple spare fuses.I dont know how its wired for power I have never looked, but you would want to check the wiring scheme first to make sure.

BlackSativa: Your general idea has merit, but I would NOT risk tying into the ignition circuit. If you want to make a temporary fix run: 10 gauge wire directly to the battery + 30 Amp fuse for protection + a switch rated at least 30 Amps.
