since its turned off cold ive been having oiling problems in the valvetrain on start up. im running mobil 5w30 now. motor has 106,000 on it, svt duratec. i was just wondering if anyone switches to a different weight of oil during the winter.

There is no reason that you can't use 0W30, but more importantly, make sure you have a filter with a good anti-leakdown valve. The Motorcraft is one of the best.

When I have my 2002 ZX2 (with a 2.0 L Zetec engine), curiously it said in the manual that it required 5W-20 oil. I put 5W-30 in, as it was the spring, and it ran fine...maybe if you can find some 5W20 that might help, as it's a little bit thinner.

Then again, stick with what your manual says...that's usually safest.
