What's up y'all, looking for ideas on this scenario:
'99 SVT w/stock wheels 225/50/R16 Falken's
The squeak shows up below 10 mph with a rhythm something like 1-2-3 then nothing, 1-2-3 etc.
I've stopped right when I heard the squeak and reversed, the squeak doesn't repeat in reverse.
Anyone ?

Personally, I'd start simple: brake pads.
Quick test: Use a hose to squirt some water on the brake rotor and pads (both sides of the rotor). Is the sqeak still there? Does it come back as soon as the water dries off?
If the squeak goes away with water, but then returns, I'd try removing the caliper and pads, cleaning everything up with Brakleen and make sure any caliper sliding points are correctly lubricated (use ONLY high-temp grease design for use around brake components; make sure the rotor and pads stay clean). Then put it all together. Make sure to pump the pedal several times to tighten up the piston and pads before driving off (I forgot this once; the first stop was thankfully safe, but heart-pounding).

Yup....classic brake audible wear inidicator noise. Do as Phil suggests and check 'em. In fact, If I were you, I'd go ahead and get a set before you disassemble anything, then you'll have them to replace. Very easy task.

Gearhead has a point: I was presuming you knew everything on the car is up-to-date. If you're going to the trouble to take it apart, might as well throw a new set of pads in while you're at it.
Of course, this is your opportunity to do it right: Measure the thickness of the rotors and make sure they're within spec; replace if they aren't. I'm also a big believer in bleeding the brake system once you've pushed the caliper pistons back in. I hate thinking about pushing dirty fluid back up toward the ABS pump and master cylinder.
