Sorry for the large number of questions, but I am very new to this. A guy I know wrecked a pre-98 SE Tour (he's OK, but the car is not). I have a 99 LX. Depending on what happens to the car I may be able to get some parts off of it. My question is what stuff should I take?

I'm planning on taking the sail panals and I know how to get those off.

I'd like the "Contour" rear emblem; how do I get that off? Same with the Ford in the grill.

Are the whipers (not the blades, but the whole arm) the same on the Pre 98s? If so I'd like to take those to do some painting experiments on them. How do I take them off?

Does the Pre-98 have the little oval piece that says "Contour" on the dash? If so how could I take that off the car?

I assume the wheels off the Pre-98 would be fine on my car...

Would the fog lamps work? My car doesn't have fogs right now but I would like to add them. I assume I could just wire it so that they come on with the headlights. Would the Pre-98s fit my car? How should I go about removing them?

What else should I consider taking off the Pre-98 that I could use to make my car more unique or interesting?

Thanks!

"I'm planning on taking the sail panals and I know how to get those off."

-one screw, push forward

"I'd like the "Contour" rear emblem; how do I get that off? Same with the Ford in the grill."

-Peel away, the rear on with stickers. front wouldn't work.

"Are the whipers (not the blades, but the whole arm) the same on the Pre 98s? If so I'd like to take those to do some painting experiments on them. How do I take them off?"

-Same parts, and get someone to show you at a car place.

"Does the Pre-98 have the little oval piece that says "Contour" on the dash?"

-No

"I assume the wheels off the Pre-98 would be fine on my car..."

-You assume correctly

"Would the fog lamps work?"

-Maybe, sonmeone else chime in.

"What else should I consider taking off the Pre-98 that I could use to make my car more unique or interesting?"

-Trunk lid, and not much else.

Now be nice others who want to reply,

Glove box light (decontented before yours was built)

Underhood light (also decontented) -- Plan on wiring it up yourself.

On the fog lights you will definitely need the headlight switch as well as the relay. I don't know if the mounting brackets are the same or not or if there is any additional wiring needed.

Sometimes the emblems can be removed with fishing line or dental floss to cut the adhesive from the back. You kind of saw it off with the line or floss.

Look it over and see what you want. There are a lot of things that can be swapped, but some of them lie in the area of WHY. You just need to look things over and see what you may want.

And here I was hoping he wanted to exchange his post 98 center console, for a pre 98.

(I'm looking to swap my pre 98 console, for a post 98 console)

Make sure to grab the relay/harness from under the dash when you grab the headlamp switch.

ISnt this the thing that is a clock on the pre 98's? A lot of people have swapped that in. Are these automatics or manuals? Do you have the ability to hang on to any engine and tranny parts?

The dash vents and the surrounds are different on the pre98s.

If you want to replace the oval "Contour" logo, you will need to find a 98 (like a E0 SVT...).

I would get whatever you can... if you can't use it, sell it on Ebay or the classifieds here (like the easily removed pre98 clock)
