I have the Kenwood KDC-3025. I want to by pass the stock amp. I have a harnes. Now help me from here. I have to plugs from the harness kit. On is for speakers...the other is for power. I have all the wires hooked up from the readio to the power...like the red, black and yellow. That much I get. By passing the amp, I guess I need to continue on connecting the power antena wire from radio to harness. And I disreagard he tele mute wire from the radio. And the dimmer wires on the harness (I think there are three). Now, do I hook up the radio Power control blue/white wire to the amp turn on blue/white on the harness? Or since I am bypassing the amp, do I disregard this wire??

Next, I guess by disconnecting the amp, I am going to need a bunch more speaker wires to lengthen the harness o reach the radio form the amp??? Am I one the right track?

Thanks,

Well, having to do this after the stock cd player craped out on me, its not too hard. if you take out the glovebox(push in the back of the sides hard and pull) you will see the amp and it takes a few screws to take it out. do that and you will see some wires that plug in to it. find the ones that are 8 connected to a plug in and those are your speaker wire if i remember right and push the otherones outta the way except for the antenna wire. just take out the amp and connect the speaker wires to the cd player and that will tell you what speaker it is. there is also the radio wire to connect too. that should work but if not pm me and I will find out which wires they are for sure and walk you through it better. but totally disregard the amp as it just is in the way and serves a better purpose as a .12 guage target. but you are on the right track . good luck.

Okay I think i've almost got it. I have the stock amp out. There were two connectors connected to the box. A larger black plug and a smaller black plug. Which plug do I cut and tap into for the speaker wires???? I am guessing it is the smaller plug is the out. If that is the case, it looks kinda cramped and the color coding scheme doesn't match up on the stock wires to my harness. Please advise if I am on the correct path. Merci d'avance.

holycow, Just wondering what part of western Pa your from? Im from Pittsburgh myself. Anyway not really sure how to help u here but I am thinking of getting the high powered panasonic head unit that puts out 60W RMS and then I will be needing to bypass the factory amp as well. Hopefully someone chimes in and gives a very detailed "how-to" to do this.

I've almost got this figured out. I just need somebody to once and for all confirm that I need to cut the small(?) connector from factory amp and hard wire in??? In all the archives....nobody definitively answers this one simple question. Which of the two connectors do I cut and use???

Once I figure this out, I can help you out. I'm from Butler. Keep in mind I'm 35 so if there is an age difference and it doesn't bother you, I can help you out any way I can.

Im 23. I don't care at all about age difference. Helping fellow Contour owners its whats important to me. Hopefully someone will chime in to answer your question so that you can in turn pass your knowledge onto me. I will in turn try to help w/ whatever other questions you might have. My car knowledge varies depending on the different areas of the contour but I am willing to provide advice/assistence wherever possible.

I am one of the "losers" from the General forum that you told to go help you here. I could answer your question, but since I know nothing about audio I think you might not appreciate my answer.

Why double-post in General (and insultingly at that) if you want Audio gurus?

woh woh woh... don't cut any factory harnesses. I'll try to make it as simple as I can.
Ok, Do you have an amplifier bypass harness? Metra #70-5513

If not I have them in stock
Sounds more like you bought a 70-1770
DIRECTIONS
1) Unplug wire harnesses from both sides of amplfier.
2) Insert bypass harness between the two harnesses.

See... pretty simple ehh?? otherwise you have to unplug the harness coming out of the right side of the amplifer (output) and hardwire your speaker wires coming from your headunit into the factory wires using the factory wire codes..

This is a 70-1770 which is what you need for the radio, doesn't help at all with bypassing the amp.

And dont worry about steedasan, His rampage from all our Audiobahn bashing is just boiling over
