Ive looked at a lot of dyno charts, and I think the assessment earlier about the cams is correct. You do not have enough cam in there, the svt cams would go a long ways towards fixing that. Still -- very nice setup, gonna be awesome with the additional boost, I can see record setting contour numbers for you.

Thats one of the smoothest A/F curves ive ever seen. They did a real good job tuning. So have you driven the car on the street yet?

You're kidding right?

That's a full point of deviation. That's huge!

My A/F doesn't deviate more then 3 maybe 4 tenths and mine polls more than 10 times a second unlike the slow reading dyno widebands. If I drop the poll time to match a dyno's the deviation is about 2 tenths from 3000-7500rpm. (13.1 to 13.3)

Also the A/F is very rich right up to the end where it's only slightly rich. It should be around 12.2-12.5 and not 11.1 to 12.
Like I mentioned earlier that's some hidden power right there just waiting to be pulled out. Just what he needs, more power...

Also the begs the question is it a properly placed wideband or a tail pipe sensor??? If it's a tail pipe unit then it is even richer then the graph states.

I wasn't there for the 3rd attempt at tuning, and come to think of it, neither was Jim. But I do know that the 2nd time, they did pull an O2 and did a true wideband. That could have been because he was running rich on the front bank and lean on the rear and wanted accurate readings. I'd guess they did the tailpipe as I recall them using that when we first showed up that 2nd trip.

I never did like the fact they use a tail pipe snifer. Its just kinda of flops around in the tail pipe, thats if they can get it in there right. When I asked them, they said they compared a 10k horriba meter to there snifer and received the same results. I'm not so convinced, but they do know more about that than I, Jerry is the king of Ford tuning after all, or so I hear.

A tail pipe mounted wideband O2 is not as accurate as one mounted right after the engine.

Too many variables introduced before the end of the piping.

For one. The fact if there is a catalytic converter on the car. If so that's a noticeable variable. (now a 4 gas sensor MUST be placed before any cats!)
Then there is the effect of temperature loss, stagnant air in the mufflers/resonators, et cetera. Albeit minor but more erratic variances.

Tail pipe is definitely better then nothing but it's results are not as accurate/consistent and normally reads a little leaner then it truly is.

Most "in ground dyno" shops likely use a tailpipe sniffer because of ease of use.
