I went to adjust the dimmer and I pushed the dimmer into the dash a bit.

I did not push hard or anything, it just broke the mount.

Any ideas?

Is it normal for the switch to be hot? Remember, my heater was turned up at the time, so, perhaps the heat travels to it or close to it.
