Well i posted before all the head aches my car has given me, so i wont post em again. But ..... i still have one annoying one. My car squeals. here are the symptoms. Raining, at a stop with heater on, turning the wheel while driving slow... car will squeal during any one of these actions. The sepentine belt is new .. so is tensionor pully. When its squealing bad i will notice that my interior lights start to dimm ( i assume the belt is slipping) Its been suggested that even though the belt is new , it could be that its a cheap Canadian tire belt. And.... the rough ... very rough idle does not help. So any suggestions? Oh ya .. i even tried belt dressing ... lol.. now its has a constant low squeek. thanks guys

Sounds iike the belt is slipping, I agree. Or whatever you put on the belt actually hurt more than it helped.

Think you should buy a Motorcraft belt as that was the exact same size Ford put on your car the day it left the factory, if the belt you have is slighty different it wont work.

Fix the idle, test the steering pressure switch, make sure your splash guard is there, and check the pulleys for alignment.

Fix the idle? did not think i could adjust the idle ... thought you had to bring it into ford to do it .

Certain replaceable parts will change the idle. Old ignition parts, for example.

Could this happen, the dimming lights, if the belt is too tight and is loading the pulleys???

I had the exact same problem in my Probe GT. The lights would dim, it'd squeal really loud and my battery guage (yup, the PGT had one) would decrease dramatically.
A few months of this and then my alternator seized up completely. I'm assuming the symptoms are related. For me, I believe the alternator was just beginning to fail under pressure (power steering use, acceleration) forcing the belt to attempt two different speeds (causing slippage).

Man that would suck, I just replaced my 95's alternator with a rebuilt one from AutoZone for $160 + change. It's not hard to do, but it's the most expensive Alt. I've ever purchased.
