Yeah... I wouldn't mind having to cross train, as long as they don't just stick me with something, maybe let me choose from what's available and I'll be happy.
And you're right... sure does beat no job. True I can make a LOT more doing what I do (electrician) on the outside... but at least it's guaranteed $, unlike my dad in Alaska which they've been out of union electrical jobs for over a month.

I dont look at it as just a job. Service men and women give up so much to protect our freedoms. I bet there is nothing like having a complete stranger say thank you for serving our country. Support our troops even if you dont neccessarily agree with where they are! because they give their lives to protect ours!

The Major that officiated the ceremony actually won the Bronze Star a few days ago, and the base commander even came outside to congradulate him. It was nice. Hopefully I can have pics on my site later tonight.
Congratulations to him! He is a great American (as are you). It's a big thing to be in the service of our great country, and he deserves a lot of credit for it. ALL of our service men and women do. Our freedoms are precious and much gratitude is due those who protect them.

Ya know the Training NCO for my unit has a sign on the wall that says:
"If you're reading this, thank a teacher; If you're reading it in English, thank a soldier"
I think that would be a cool bumper sticker.

I love that quote. I have a nice quote on my wall that I found at a craft show someplace (I have no idea why I was there, I've had this a few years now). It says:
Home of the Free, Because of the Brave.
Truest, quote...ever. =)

Well, his career is interesting. He first went active in 1989. He got out just before he was to put Senior Airman on in late 92. A year later he joined the Army National Guard Reserves as an E-3. He stayed with them about a year before his brother talked him into joining the Air National Guard Reserves. In 1998, he made Staff in the ANG Res. and then he got out in 2000. He came back active duty in Feb 2001, but they put him back to day 1 Senior Airman, since he originally left active duty, technically as a Senior Airman. He was too late to test for Staff that year, the cut off was actually 2 weeks before they let him back active. So he first tested in 2002, failed by 7 points.....no studying though. In 2003, he test, and failed by 3 points......with a little studying. This year, he studied his butt off........mainly PFE, and pass with like 20 points OVER the cut off. Test results came out in August, he was supposed to put Staff on Sept 1st, but was held up because he had to finish ALS first. So he finally put it on Sept 16th. If I were you, I'd start studying now, unless you are working on your 5 level or something. Get PFE Gold on CDROM, and study. I forgot who it was that suggested this, but it was someone on here.... maybe Chris Hightower..... who suggested to get your PFE, read a chapter, then get on PFE Gold, take the test for that chapter, then the complete PFE test. After that, go and read chapter 2, go to PFE Gold, take Chapter 2 test, then the whole PFE test. Keep doing that until you are done with the entire PFE. Then, start over until you test. He said that helped him make Staff & Tech his first times testing. Mr. Furby did that as well, and it really worked.
