Why do you think I converted to a 3L?

NO MORE issues with launching once I had the 3L installed, and I'm referring to pre-turbo days.
I can launch at 2 grand and just a tad clutch slip and not have any bogging issues. Once boost begins to build in the 3500 rpm range it is really a non issue because the onset can be so sudden that it will rip the tires free...at least with the 215mm tires. NOw I have 235mm so at 7psi it will hold once boost comes on.
You really can't do too much about the lack of low end grunt without changing displacement or changing cams.
You will have to pick your launch at a higher rpm and slip the clutch a bit more. As the clutch begins to bite you'll have to modulate the pedal. IF you try to modulate the throttle the engine will either push into serious boost and you'll break traction, or fall out of boost and bog, so it becomes rather tricky. Stick with modulating the clutch.
I just pick a 2500-2800 rpm launch point and slip the clutch in a little bit to keep the rpm up. The stage 3 clutch bites almost immediately when it is hot so it can be a [censored] to slip sometimes. An organic clutch is significantly easier to slip and launch.
Anyway, this gets the car rolling pretty easily without spooling the turbo too much and by the time the clutch slip is done and I let off the pedal I am at 3500 rpm and she is pulling hard. Above that you just hold on until the shift point comes...which is extremely quick and has caught me sleeping once or twice when it rev limits.
People who haven't driven a modified 3L or turbo 'tour with a Hi Po stage 3 type of clutch won't really understand the difference that just the clutch makes in the launch.
Worse, the bite changes with temperature. My clutch is very easy to drive when it is cool because it doesn't bite as quikly. It is smoother and slips easier. Driving it a while gets everything warm and then it has instant bite.
