If you are still interested in these let me know and I will call the local Ford dealer here in Belgium and see what he can get them for.

They're $3 each on Fordpartsonline.com
Bill J would probably be about the same.

are the escape, 500 valve springs the same stiffeness as the st220. just confused b/c when i pulled it up on fordparts they are the same part number. Also is it possible to replace valve springs without removing the cams? don't think so but might as well ask.

Why? You think worn springs are the cause for your blue/black smoke? Think valves aren't seating?

Smoke is a good thing...don't worry about it.

1. They are now. Don't know when the change occured.
As for being stiffer. They had higher spring pressure then my well loved 2.5L springs when measured.
2. Not in the the way you are thinking. The Ford tool uses the cam to remove the springs but you still have to remove the cam afterwards. This is also after you completey pull off the chains properly.
Matter of fact I would not even try removing the valve springs with the heads installed.

Agreed!! Way Too Little Room And Room For Error...Youll Definitely Want The Motor Out To Do A Job Like That. The Front Cover Must Be Removed To Get The Heads Off And Theres Very Little Room To Do So Without Pulling It All Out...But If Youre Interested Ive Got A Set Of ST220 Valve Springs That I Will Not Be Using.
