Ok I have been reading for a few hours now and all of this information is starting to kind of blend into one big mess in my head.. So don't flame me if I ask a retarded question. Ok now that is out of the way, from what I am gathering if I do the 3L hybrid the major parts that I will need are the 3L bottom end and I am able to use everything from my svt up top. I am talking about the heads up when I say everything from the SVT. Also I just finished reading the post about the injectors so I am thinking about going with the 24# injectors. Is there any fuel system modifications that need to be done? One last thing I have is the tuning factor, I am currently in alaska and I can't seem to find anyone that has a decent reputation for doing dyno and tuning work. So what do you guys suggest I try and do for tuning. Do you think I can contact ADC and they can sell me a chip that will work for my choices in this swap? Thanks for the help.

Why do you want to do a hybrid instead of a full oval port 3L?

Either way run the 19lb injectors. They will support near any 3L and you won't immediately need a custom chip.

I know Y2KSVT is running 19lb'ers and has no tune and his is pretty much dead on to where it should be.

I was going to do the hybrid cause it seems easier for me to get more performance without doing much head work. I am probably wrong but like I said I started to get a little confused with all of the stuff I was reading. I thought that there was a lot of head work involved to get the oval port to fight right. I want to get the most power for my money cause I will be on kind of a tight budget as far as what I can spend on the project. So if you could help and correct me I would appreciate it.

A hybrid takes exponentially more work & money to match the results of a simple straight oval port setup.
Machining for 3L valves, port work to suport 3L valves, chamber shaping to match 3L bore, then there is the actual indepth port work itself. I'm not saying the price is not justified because that is a TON of labor. I am saying the end results are hard to justify though!

Most simple "straight" hybrids are about 185-195 FWHP while oval ports are ~202-208FWP.

Even the full ported hybrids normally only match up with the straight oval ports. There are of course a couple "top end" ($$$) hybrids that are 210's.

For ref - All numbers are with SVT cams.

The port shaping of the oval port inlets to the split port LIM is not hard to do. I have some very good step by step pictures on my site.
If you search you can also find countless pages of information about it as well.

Greg, what 'oval port' 3.0Ls do you refer too? The only two I cna think off the top of my head that have gone that route is yourself, and JaTo(IIRC). I just don't count your build up as a 'normal' one with your knowledge and tools at your disposal ;-).

Anywho, if you need a chip, my advice would be to throw the car on a dyno (if available) and get the a/f read as well, and send that to ADC for a chip. As greg said, unless your planning adding some kind of FI, 19's will suffice.

i think a hybrid with a set of cams (hotter than SVT) would be a great setup, now if some cams ever become available......

There have been 3 dyno'd to date.

Jiako did 202FWHP with a straight oval port swap with SVT cams. Filter & IIRC Y-pipe with yes a stock SVT exhaust.

He was the first a little over 2 years ago.

He later added a few mods (cat-back & tuning for certain) and posted 212.5 FWHP and ran 14.5 @ 95.6

Pojay did one that dyno'd 209 FWHP. Gutted pre-cats, CAI and cat-back. Yes tuned of course.

I forget who did the other but I think it was a Cougar guy. It was 204FWHP. (I just have the numbers in my notes???)

I have not dyno'd mine nor would I consider it a "typical" oval port 3L.
If the 102mph trap speed says anything it should put down stellar numbers on the right dyno. BTW any S/C cars trap that high yet...
