I know Im probably gonna get flamed cause this is most likely posted somewhere already, I just cant find it.

Im looking to either rebuild or buy a new crate engine for a 97 Contour. Right now I have a 2.5V6, and dont really want the 3.0 thats on the mods page, granted its a pretty good price of 2k (give or take) and itll probably give me a nice lil boost in power, but its just my daily driver, and I want to keep it at as stock as possible. Right now it has 101k on the engine and body, and Id like to get an engine with a lot less mileage than that, so I was hoping at least one person would be able to steer me in the right direction of finding and new or reman engine for my car. Id prefer something new.

Also, anyone know a rough estimate on how long something like that would take to do? I mean doing an engine swap like that. I know it would probably be at least a week if not a month, but I really dont know these things, and any help would be appreciated.

Im posting this in the Northeast forum, cause well, Im from the Northeast, and am hoping that I can find someone in Jersey (middlesex if possible) that can help me out with either knowing someone that can get me an engine, or knowing a good place to have a swap done at. I sure as hell cant do it.

First welcome to CEG my friend. Its doubtful you will get flamed in the NE section, were not "normal" as Allen so put it. **scratchinghead** never even met the guy. ANYway we dont do they over yonder.

Engine swaps, ive only done two with some help and the right tools on old v-8's. These cars are a bit more complex. Wait you only got 100k on it. Dude, mine's got 90k and strong as on ox. If its not blown or in horrible running condidtion; consider cheaper and maby more permable solution......where are these big words coming from. right, anyway, resarch....YEAH SEARCH NAZI IN THE HEEZY on the real, there is MUCH info on this site to keep the engine running a long time. I wouldnt give up on the engine just yet ....basically the only reason i still have mine.

But hey, if you got the time and money go for it, all the way 3.0 litre. If its your daily and running ok, look for alternate ways, synthetic oil, redo plugs, wires, the whole 9. If you havent checked these out maby start here er maby here . My bad if you looked there just tryin to help the newbie, and im in a good mood for once ((iamnotacrook))

if it aint broke don't fix it

seriously if you only have 100k on the motor it will be fine for another 100k if you take care of it

we had a member in the NE-CEG that just had the engine let go in his 95 at 200k, and he wasn't easy on the car

keep the mantinence up and the engine will last a long time, my father has 105k on his 95 and it runs as strong as the day we got it

at 100k the engine is just broken in, enjoy it

Would probably be cheaper to blueprint/rebuild the current one.
