I know it means misfiring, but what could cause it?Ive replaced the coil pack, the wires, and the plugs 4 times.Everytime I replace the plugs, it runs good for about 2-3 weeks. Then the CEL starts flashing, and the car starts to run slugish on a load.
Anybody got an idea about the misfire?

I've been there........
Does it happen on a warm engine or restarting a warm engine.
If so read this my thread.

Could be a crank sensor or cam sensor, fuel filter.
Sounds like it's fuel pressure related as you've changed plugs wires and coil.

Multiple misfiring....Could be a whole slew of things. Take it to Autozone and get your codes read for a better idea.

Re: Misfiring: Check the Simple Things First!

2 weeks ago my CEL came on and engine began misfiring. Put on scope and it read code # P0305 (#5 cylinder misfiring). Had just put in new wires and platinum plugs, but tried different new plug, checked wires, etc. - not the problem. Took back to shop today. Figured it was fuel injector. It was, but not what you'd think. The fuel injection wiring harness plugs, up near the firewall on the passenger side, were loose and corroded - when you wiggled them the engine smoothed out. Cleaned the pins and holes with fine sandpaper, blew them out, spread the pins slightly to make a tighter fit, and no more misfire. If I had started with the simple, would have cost me nothing. As it was, it cost me $346 Cdn, but did get an injector power flush out of the deal. Live and learn...
