I just got something in the mail from Ford regarding the TFI Module.
I haven't read through it entirely, nor do I really want to.
Is this a repair/recall issue which I can go ahead and take advantage of??
Pardon my noobage, but WTF is the TFI Module?
Excuse my lack of searching but it's 2:14 AM and I've had about 7 pints...

It used to mean Thick Film Ignition Module. Can you supply a few more details? About 18 years ago Ford had a major problem with these failing without warning. A friend of mine had an '84 Mustang that unceromoniously died in the Calahan tunnel in Boston.

Is that the module mounted to the distributor that would kill 80s Taurus/Sables w/o warning and no start until it cools off?

Yeah, my Mustang had that module. Yup, left me at the side of the road (thankfully within walking distance of home).

Annoying: The wording of the recall (or service action or whatever they called it) was so restrictive that it didn't apply to me. My paperwork said no compensation if the failure was over 100K miles (mine was). C'mon - a correctly designed TFI module shouldn't fail, even at 100K miles.

I got the same notification. It's for a class action suit against Ford for the 10 or 12 years that they put the TFI module in most (not all) Ford cars and trucks. My '86 Ranger was plagued with TFI problems - must have replaced it 5 times in its 380K miles. If you had a vehicle from model year '83? to '95 in the past, that's why you got the notice. They're asking how many modules you replaced (you had to use Motorcraft replacements) and who did it and info like that. Maybe there's a reembursement. Last time there was any news on this, Ford wouldn't do anything about it if your vehicle had over 100K miles on it. I probably won't see a dime.

Ok that makes sense....before this car I had previously owned an '93 Taurus and an '89 Tempo. Must have been regarding the Tempo.

The paperwork specifies consumer complaints of over-heating distributor-mounted TFI modules.
Since it doesn't apply to my Contique, I'll throw it away.

That class action suit ended about a year ago. I got $93.00 for my '85 F-150 that I had to do in '91. Sold what was left of it 6 years ago but I had the original repair reciepts so I was able to get the refund. It definitely pays to keep all auto-related reciepts.
