What would be the easiest way to remove the stock head unit? Also, will a replacement unit slide right in or is there some sort of "adapter" to make it fit tightly? Thanks in advance!

You need a Ford radio removal tool...You can get one at most any car parts or car audio store...In a pinch you can use a wire hanger, but it's kinda hit and miss with those...Your new stereo should have a metal "frame", or "can" that goes around it. Bend the tabs up so that when you slide it into the dash they lock in behind the opening...this will make it a b*tch to get back out, so make sure you do everything correctly the first time! Good luck!

Well I've used a hangar, and gotten the stereo to come loose, but for some reason it wont slide out for me. I also understand I need a wiring harness that bypasses the stock amp, is that correct? Are their different models of harness's? Also, lets just say I dont want to do this myself, any idea what a stereo shop would charge? smile Also, if your in the D/FW area and want to lend me a hand....I'll buy beer. Thanks again ya'll!

THe radio removal toold are hit or miss as well. If you don't plan on using the stock HU ever again, like mine, you can carefully get a screwdriver between the sides of the radio and push on the clips to get it out. I had to do this as one side of my radio would not come out.

yeah, you could but if you bend 'em...you could end up screwin' yourself and jamming the stock hu....if he has to order the bypass harness, why not just get the tools as well...it is like three bucks.....
