It came on the other day but prior to that my car had been running a little sluggish, bogging and such. I had my whole my fuel system cleaned out and I suppose it helped a little but then a while later my engine light finally came on.

I had a friend of mine that has a diagnostic computer check it out and it gave me a timing code.

Anyone have a clue. As for the bogging it seems to happen as I am driving at regular speeds. The car just jumps a little??? or seems to skip something???? Normally if I am a gear lower then I should be while getting on the highway it happens also. I hope that is enough info.

Thanks

For a 98 up that would be a VCT failure.

Have your timing belt checked out if it's not been replaced recently. I had this same problem a few months back and that's what it was. Much less to fix than the VCT.

If you have the 4 cylinder, the VCT is on the left, next to the spark plug wires on your engine...... right there on top. It replaces the EGR Valve.
