i want to hook up a car audio amp in my home.
its not a monster amp, but its enough to do the job i need, the amp has a 30 amp fuse.
how would i go by transforming AC to DC with a nice current of around 30 amps.

anyone know any sites that tell you some info? or anywhere where i can pick up a transformer for a decent cost.. i dont really want to spend that much on this.

thank you

Okay.. Honestly, i've done this before. It's not that hard, but as long as you don't turn up your music that much, you won't be blowing fuses like crazy. Just get an AC/DC converter from 120V to 12V. Connect the remote, and power on the same line (or you could put an on/off switch for the remote, to turn it "on and off"), and make sure you have a fuse on the main power, and connect the ground. Then all you would need to do is connect everything else like a car, and your set..

Go to Radio Shack and buy a power supply.

Don't know the price, guess $60.00.
Good power supplies cost hundreds $$.

While a transformer or a power supply would do the trick, you have to remember you will spending a lot of money if you want a good Signal to Noise Ratio. A cheap transformer or power supply is not going to be adequate if you want a decent sounding amp. I say you just give up on this one.

As mentioned, it will cost a lot of money to get a 30A power supply. How much power does that amp put out? My vote is to sell the amp and get an AC amp.

Or, what you could do is buy a good deep cycle battery, and then connect your amplifier to the battery, and the you got music. Just make sure you have your own battery charger though. An advantage to this, is you could put it in your car later!
