Hi,
Where did you find it for four bills? Ive been thinking of making one out of old PC parts.

Please post a dealer or source.

Thanks in advance

I think the empeg mka is what everyone recomends. This unit does have the plus of the remote display though. That would be nice if you didn't ahve a place for a unit like the empeg MKa

The SSI unit is really cool. The only thing is, it needs power. You could just run this thing to a crossover, then to separate amps, not needing another HU. But, if you already have a really nice HU with an aux in, then you use the remote display.

Very fast access time, and you can even put a 160G hard drive in it. I highly recommend it.

So I was just wondering how I could hook up one of these things.

I guess I would just hook it into a set of RCA's (Aux port) on my HU and change my HU to AUX and it will run through my Head Unit correct?

Also will the volume be controlled through the HU or the MP3 unit?

Thanks

Sounds like you got the right idea. You might need an adapter or something if either unit is using a mini-plug. Otherwise, you'd just need some RCA's. Shouldn't be a problem either way, though. I think some Blau decks need a special adapter for aux input use.

The volume should be controlled by the HU. If the mp3 unit has got a volume control, set the level to match the CD/radio (when you switch sources the volume will still be the same).

Colin (is it?)

Thanks for the help. I can't wait to get one of these mp3 units. I'm adding the pre98 console and going to try and fit it in there.

I was reading and found something about line level adjustable RCA's and that it has to have them. Can't remember exactly what I read though.
Otherwise I think you need an adapter.

Not sure if my C90 has them?

Anyways I'll keep you guys informed when/if I get one.

I'm leaning towards the Empeg Unit right now!

Thanks

No aux inputs on the C90. frown You'll have to go a different route, such as FM modulation.

BTW, the Neo here has mini-plug and RCA outputs, which would make it easy for anyone to add one that has an aux input (definately becoming more common these days).

Oh yeah, it's Colin. BTW, that's a nice deck you've got there. It's probably the only Sony product I'd put in my car.

Here's an FM Modulator for all of you without an AUX input.
