I've got a '99 SVT. I haven't driven it in a couple days and the temperature outdoors has been dropping. I get in it today and it won't start. The engine turns over weakly and makes a high pitch humming noice. Anyone ever encounter a simalar problem? Can someone give me some reccomendations as to what I should check??

Thanks In Advance,

Brian,

Are you familiar with the sound a weak battery makes? I'd check your battery first. Maybe try and jump start it.

If the problem is your battery, you'll probably want to think about getting a new one. Especially as the temps drop this winter.

If the headlights stay bright while cranking it would have to be in the cable to the starter, or the starter itself.

To anyone that has replaced their starter themselves...Is this an easy fix? I just don't want to have to pay for towing...I'd just like to replace it myself it its not too lengthly of a job...

Thanks,

Yes. 3 blots and it's out. You might have to remove battery and intake box/filter.
