Very cool looking deck ... but I don't think I can justify the $$$ for the look.

I highly recommend JVC CD decks, especially the higher-end units. I have used JVC in every SQ competition I've entered and I think I've done pretty well. Also, one of the car audio magazines just tested one of JVC's higher-end decks (last month in Car Audio & Electronics, I think) and it turned out to be one of the best they had ever tested. I personally would pick JVC over Pioneer based on performance any day of the week.

If it was just about sound, it wouldn't be either of these brands. But, the detachable face plate is now a necessity (after two break-ins) and these are the ones I have narrowed it down to.
JVC may make some cool stuff ... but I think I am back to where I was before I posted ... they are a bit gimmicky and you pay for things other than sound when you buy their decks.

Well, I have a pioneer and the sound is really good. it has a good bit of power and I can customise it for pretty much anything. If that one comes with a remote, you won't even have to take your eyes off the road to mess with it once you get used to the remote. I would recommend it over JVC but I havn't tested their car audio too much. from what all the stereo heads tell me, pioneer is just about the best there is for decks and they last long. if you check out www.overstock.com they have some good deals on cd players from jvc and pioneer.

Me too ... the DEH-P8MP is sweet looking. But, after two $300 insurance deductibles and $500 for an alarm and install, I need to stop the bleeding somewhere so it's the 760MP in the end.
