Greetings,

I am a new Contour driver from Ottawa, Ontario and I thought that it would be rude to ask my 1000000 questions without at least introducing myself first -- in addition to searching forums, of course.

Actually, I'm not only a new Contour driver, I am a new driver period. But already, I love my Contour. Most people seem to be pretty unaware of them, but those whom have driven in mine are pretty impressed by its pep and handling.

It's a 1995 2.5L ATX LX. It drives well (knock on wood) but it has some issues with the power windows/locks that I'm currently troubleshooting. I'll probably post about it after a little more research.

It's awesome that this community exists. I hope that I can contribute in the future.

Welcome aboard. I hope you'll love your Contour as much as everyone here loves theirs.

Before you ask those 1 million questions be sure and check the FAQ area on the CEG website. Also, the search feature here in the forums section can be a very useful tool.

And if your power windows are giving you fits I'm sure we can help solve the problem. I've changed 3 of my 4 power window regulators. Wasn't as easy as an oil change but it saved me hundreds of dollars in labor at the dealer.

You've found the place that can save you lots of money by doing it yourself. Plus, you'll learn all about these neat little things called mods that you can do to make your Contour faster, better or just plain more fun to drive.

My '95 GL V6 has been a fun, reliable car. I'm still very pleased with it. I've owned it since new and have had very few problems with it.

My power windows still work fine; I hope yours are fixed easily.

One item you'll find in the search, but I'll mention it anyway: Find out if the water pump has been changed. All Contours came with a water pump that uses a plastic impeller (the part inside the pump that spins to move engine coolant). On early Contours, this part was noted for failing. If it's original, I highly recommend changing it as a preventive measure. It isn't a terribly difficult do-it-yourself job. A search will give you more details than I can.

Since you're a new driver with a used car, now is the time to learn about preventive maintenance. Fluid changes are key to keeping a car for the long-term. Everyone remembers engine oil and coolant, and transmission fluid; many forget brake fluid (should be flushed periodically) and power steering fluid.

Have fun with your Contour!
