Check for the price for the whole track steup at ford and maybe you can do the job yourself. You will have to remove the headlinerto access the track. I never did that kind of job but should but that hard when the headliner will be down.

Nic.

Contour 99 MTX V6 fully loaded, stock with 110000km. Illuminated sunroof switch. About to do the mystique rear dome light conversion with eyeball dome light.

Also wonder if the track is in fact jammed. my Sunroof has to have help of my hand pushing or pulling it. I've tried greasing the track, but suspect it is more a problem of the gear wearing down. Some threads on hear have spoken of the gear wheels on the sunroof motor being cheap plastic and wearing down so that they don't work any more.

Unfortunately I believe the gear can only be replaced by replacing the entire sunroof motor. But that's not a $1,600 job either.

Ok, I personally would drop the motor off first and make sure it works properly before I would have the track replaced. Yess ford requires you to buy the whole motor assembly for the gear, its sux, I've been there, but I managed to get a junk yard part for somewhere around $30. There have been threads and groupbuys with information on just getting the gear from an outside company, search for those, you'll save tons if it is the gear. If it is the track, again, junkyard, Contours and Mystiques wil both work. Mechanical ability has a little to do with this, and if you are in the Metro Detroit area, PM me, I'll be more than glad to help. Whereever you are at, get intouch with the local CEGers and I think you could find someone that would lend a hand for pizza and a couple beers.
