2 topics in one folks..
I just picked up a new Kicker Solo-Baric 12' L7. I have a RF 200ix (700 watts bridged) for the sub. That sub pounds hard and I mean, real frickin hard when and only when I have the rear seats folded down. Now this looks absolutely ghetto but it sounds the best. When I close the seats, I can hear the bass but it's just missing the oompf that I get with the seats down. I have the back decklid ported with just a 6 1/2 old speaker grill but that doesn't seem to help. The sub box is sealed and it's big enought to fit only one sub. Any ideas on how to get the sound into the car? I was even thinking of going as far as removing the old seats and installing a pari from a junk yard or something and then just butcher the heck out of them..

Another question. I see a lot on the forums about mounting speakers in the rear deck. I would definitely like to do this because I am all about the mids. I was even thinking of cutting out the backing behind the rear seat arm rest and mounting a sort of odd shaped box in the opening for 2 6x9s. Heck, I would even do one speaker but getting the channels to split up with be kinda difficult just so I get both left and right channels into the backseat. Does anyone have any pics or detailed how-toos on this job?

I'm currently working on a pair of 8s bottom mounted to the rear deck. I might even throw a third in there on the other side of the middle seat belt mechanism. But, they still won't have the output or bass extension of a single 12" in the trunk.

Have you tried repositioning your sub in the trunk? Experiment with it. Face it towards the rear, try loading the corners, etc...

i have a sony 1035...one of the weakest subs on the market...but it sounds pretty loud shoved all the way up against the back trunk lid, firing towards the rear away from the cabin..in other words, it is in the very farthest posisition away from the front, on the driver's side, firing towards the back bumper... you can't hear the sub unless its put in that posistion. If that can work for a sony sub  , it can work 10 times better for any other sub.
