Hi, I installed a new cd-player myself and did the wiring harness myself. The connections are correct and the new radio powers up and appears to work, but no music. Has anyone had this similar problem? Do I need to remove the factory amp. or anything? Or should I exchange the radio for a new one?

Sounds like you haven't got the turn-on lead connected to the factory amp. Bypass that POS, you'll kill 2 birds with one stone. Do a search on amp bypass, you'll find umpteen thousand threads on every little aspect about it.

That is exactly the solution to my problem. I noticed on my wiring harness that there is a wire for amp. on, but there is not a wire on my new radio for amp on. only power antenna up. I looked at my Ford "amp." and it looks like a pain in the a$$ to remove or bypass (atleast for an idiot like myself). Is there any other way to connect the amp. on wire to anything else inorder to make it work? - Possibly to the antenna up wire (if the signal is the same). Sorry if it's a dumb question, but I don't (and rarely ever do) know what I'm doing. Thanks, SKWAT

The antenna-up lead should work fine since most radios flip that on anytime they are powered up, not just when the tuner is selected like one might expect they would do it.
Still, the amp bypass is really easy. All you need, assuming that you don't want to tear up the vehicle harness, is a harness that connects to the speaker harness that is currently plugged into your 'premium' amp. A little soldering and shrink wrap later (or crimp connectors, or even wire nuts if the better connection isn't important enough to you for the work effort) and you'll be amazed how bad that POS 'premium' amp was.

When i installed my Alpine CD player, for some reason i kept blowing the radio fuse(3 times to be exact).Anyways sometimes the simplest problems give you the biggest headaches!!!

Shouldn't take more than an hour for even a car audio newbie.
