The trunk on my contour rattles like crazy. Is there any way to tighten the trunk without putting in something like Dynomat? And if any one has done anything to stop there brake light from vibrating please let me know.

I did some jerry rigging and got mine to sound solid. First, the license plate was ratling the most so I removed it and put to small nuts behind the license plate to use as spacers then used the normal screws and put the license plate back in place. Now there is about a 1/4 inch gap there. No more noise there!!
Second, I had the back decklid ratling like crazy. I used the trusty brawny paper towels and just shoved them up in all the crevises that I could find. Granted, it's a generic fix but it does work. Hope that helps.. wink

Ya, u can move the lock and the trunk will close tighter, if u want some cheep fixes goto a local hardware store and buy some weather striping, take the rear deck out and take the light aprat, put some weather striping on the inside of the light, on top of the light so it won't hit the wondow and then again on the bottom of the rear deck liner...its easy and cheep...just a sugestion

Back before my 98.5 SVT, I had a 95 LX (that is what turned me on to the tours... )

I went all out on the system in that car, and I must say that the biggest improvement (bang-for-the-buck) was the Dynomat.

Check ebay, or Ubid, they always have some for sale.. If you try to buy the single kit online it is more expensive than the store, but if you search for a complete trunk kit (comes with enough for the floor, the trunk lid, the 1/4 panels, and the sides.. PLUS enough spare to line the trunk latch) it is DEFINITELY worth it..
(I did every door, the trunk, the engine bay, the hood liner.. everything.. the trunk is worth the most..)

Just a thought...

This is a picture of my trunk. This stuff was dead simple to use. Cheap too. Cost me $117 Canadian for 100 ft3. Enough to do the whole car in 2-3 layers. Called RESISTO ROOFING MEMBRANE.
