It doesn't happen all the time, but my headlights have dimmed on me a couple times. Nothing else dims really, just the headlights. Once, the instrument panel dimmed and some of the lights lit up. It only occurs for a few seconds, then powers back up. My wipers sometimes go outta wack to. What gives? Am I having electrical issues or do I need a new alternator? I just had a new alternator installed about 20k ago.

When does it happen? In which conditions?
Did your battery lamp indicator light on?

Nic.

It happend the other day and it was dry and cool. The wipers happen when it rains heavy. I didn't notice a battery lamp indicator.

If the dimming happens during acceleration, then it is your alternator.

do some searches and you will find a boat load of info on that subject.

Yeah, I did search and it did dim under acceleration, however, like I said, I JUST had a brand new alternator about 20k ago damn Ford parts!

Recently in the moring it has been in the upper 20's, lower 30's around here. Upon start up the battery indicator light will come on. I hate when there are any lights on my instrument panel. So i will pull over turn off the car and start her back up to discover its gone. Cold cold weather have anything to do with this?

Mine dim when I hit the brakes hard (ABS working?), and the engine wants to quit, even if I have the clutch pressed in.
Is this normal? Any suggestions?

I also recently had electrical issues. I changed the alternator - which had totally failed. I then had the battery cables replaced. That seemed to solve all the remaining problems.

Must be that jumbly-wumbly thing happening again.

The only time my lights dim, and it's not a huge dim, is when I operate my windows. It dims all my lights (headlights, interior, etc.).
