This problem is with my mystique, which my daughter is now driving. She is having a problem with the turn signals not working (most of the time) and the heater fan not working (most of the time). However, from what she tells me, at any given time, both may be working, one may be working and not the other, or neither may be working. Also, at times, when the turn signals do not work, there is a loud, moaning sound when the signals should be clicking. I'm going to pick the car up from her this weekend, and try to figure it out. Any suggestions?

there is a recall on somthing to do with the heating. some wire in behind the nobs gets fried. my heat was stuck on full blast for a few days. as for the siginals i would start by inspecting the flasher which is in the steering column. i have gone threw 2 flashers on my car and when they were starting to go i was hearing a weird noise from the steering column it turned out that the flasher was stuck.

When I wrecked my old Tour, I tried using the hazards, but instead of coming on, I got a buzz similiar to what you describe. My problem was the driver's front signal was demolished, socket and all, so I had a short, which was causing that noise. Bent out the fender a bit and put a new socket on, stopped doing that.
Maybe that'll help?

Did you check your blinker fluid? Actually, sounds like the relay for the turn signal. My VW did the same thing, turned out the relay was selectively going. Couldn't tell you were the relay is located, someone chime in with this. AS for the heater, sounds like the blower motor resistor that goes bad around 80,000 miles on pretyt much ANY car. Does it only work on High or not at all? If not at all, I'd say start with fuses, make sure all is connected tightly on the back of the HVAC cluster. If thats kosher, There are many small problems that could arrise. Bad blower motor, relay, short, vacuum leak in the HVAC, or a bad switch.

I picked up the car from my daughter Saturday, and brought it home (100 miles or so). The heater blower worked fine all the way home, and worked fine again today. I guess I'll have to wait until it acts up again.
On the way home, the turn signals worked at times, and not at times. I did figure out that when they do not work, I can reach under the dash, and wiggle the fuse box, and they will eventually start working.
I believe the blower fan and the turn signal are two different issues, that just happened to occur at the same time.

Okay, the problem is solved for the turn signals. As it turned out, the fuse was loose in the fuse box, and was not making good contact. I removed the fuse box, took it apart (it's not really designed to come apart, and it was tricky getting it back together), and put everything back together.
The heater/ac fan may have also been running off of that same circuit. I'm not certain, so I need to do some more investigation about that. But for now, everything is working fine.
