Hello -

New here but been lurking for a few years because of my love for the SVT, SE 5spd Contours and Mercury Cougar.

The only Ford that I have wanted in the past 5-6 years has been the Contour, its a shame its not production for the US market anymore.

I wanted a SVT Contour since it came out, but at the time couldn't afford one.

I was bumpin around the net looking for something else and I ran into Drivetime's site. I know, I know, but they have interesting stuff every so often. I struck gold tonight!

They have a '99 SVT with only 34,000 on the clock. I'll take a close up look for myself but its the model year I wanted with 200hp.

He quoted me their usually overblown up pricing of $12,500 for the thing. Considering the its in mint condition MAYBE and with low mileage my guess its actual worth is more around $8,000. I haven't looked anywhere else for one so that's a guess at best.

Is there anything I should be aware of during my intial look at the car and test drive?

Thanks for any input...

PS -

Please don't try and "steer" me away from Drive Time. I'm fully aware of their history as "Cars Yes" and "Ugly Duckling" on sites like "Rip-off.com", not like you need to know this, but my past credit is somewhat "shaky" and to get a car like this without having to put half or more down my choices are limited. As SVT's don't even up used too often, I figure this might be the right chance to jump on something like this and deal with Drive Time until I can re-fi maybe in a year or so.

Again thanks...

the biggest thing i would look at that car is with the waterpump and the tranny. if you bought it for $12,500, you should be shot in the face. $8,000 isnt out of the question, just push for $6,500. anyway, other than replacing the waterpump first thing, if you test drive it and anything grinds in the gearbox, don't buy it or look at investing another $2,000. its one of the biggest problems. and thats about it. ok, if that made no sense at all, its probably cause im drunk and UF has a 4 day weekend because of Veterans Day and homecoming. hope it helps.

Thanks, I would shoot myself if I ended up paying that much. I almost dropped my cell phone when he quoted me. But it doesn't hurt to look ya know.
