I know on some vehicles if the brake light comes on sometimes in the instrument cluster it means the brake fluid is low. Does anyone know if this is true on the contours?

Yes. It comes on if the parking brake is activated too. (or wiring problems.)

Auto maufactures dont have a choice, the light as I stated in a few post down comes on for three reasons.

#1. master cylinder low on fluid
#2 parking brake set
#3 a brake line snapped and grounded the thing on the master cylinder, it completed the circuit and lighted the dash light

I suppose if you have an eletrical problem it would also come on
