Gut the fuggers, add MIL's and go on living happily ever after (so long as you have a good main cat to cleanup the rest of the exhaust - if you get smog-checked)

Since you have over 80k, that's definately the way to go. That's what I did, & I'm happily ever after all over the place.

The other day i turned on my MAX A/C and my CEL popped on. I went home, disconnected my battery for a few minutes then it disappeared... nuts huh

Why was your MAX A/C on it hasnt been above 50 here in a while.

It should if you have a good new main cat (can be bought for ~$90).
Then before you take her in to get smogged, run the piss out of it (i.e hot dog it around on your way to the smog-check place) to heat the cat up to proper operating temperature, so when they hook it up she's good to go.

It will be back, most likely. It sometimes takes several drive cycles.
Next time it comes on, go get the codes read and start your own thread if you can't find advice using the SEARCH tool.

Well the code has not come back yet so I am going to try and smog it on monday just to see if it will pass.

If your e-test consists of them hooking a scan device to your car to check the computer, don't be surprised if they fail your car because it may not have completed the necessary self tests or that it has "pending" codes. These take a number of complete drive cycles to execute or a specific number of failed tests before either passing or turning on the CEL.
