Hey All,

Posted before because I failed inspection with 'Catalytic Converters not ready'; Big Jim suggested driving it; I did for two weeks including highway speeds. No recent service, jumps, or battery disconnection and K&N air is the closest thing to a mod. Tried again and failed the same way; no CEL, no noticeable
problems. I'm looking for advice about possible causes before I go the mechanic route.

He might have meant driving the car for at least a half hour before you go smog it.

I dont recall what the driving cycle is but someone around here should have it. try searching for "driving cycle"

Sounds like maybe your catalyst monitor is in 'not ready' status. You have to drive the vehicle in such a way that the requirements to activate the catalyst monitor are met. (I don't recall the requirements, something like fully warmed up after a cold start, closed loop operation, at a steady 50? mph for so many miles/minutes?, etc.) Also, I ~think~ if you have certain pending codes, they can block the monitor from running.

Try searching on something like 'monitor driving cycle' or some such thing.

go buy the gas additive that gaurentee's you pass e-check! It works had a 1991 corrado g60 with gutted cat and running rich fail horible. Then bought this stuff and drove the car for a day and took it back up and passed.
