I seen an ad on ebay selling "3" 99 contour svt rims and they look like the cobra r rims. The ad said that 79-93 mustang rims might fir a contour. will they? Does anyone have a 17" rims that look like the cobra r rims?

They will not fit. The E1 CSVT wheels are a 16" version of the Cobra R wheel for the most part. You could "try" and find a used set of Superior Scoundrels in 17" that were made in 4x108, but you probably won't have much luck. Do a search under pics/videos under BeyondloadedSE as he has them on his car.

Here are the 17" Superior Scoundrels I have on my car. They were discontinued 2 or 3 years ago, so finding a set would be like finding a needle in a haystack. Not to mention, they are the most 'name brand' wheels like Konig, Enkei, etc.
True Cobra R wheels with the 4x108 lug pattern will fit a contour, but the offset will make them stick out past the fender well which will look retarded.
PM Mark, he has a set of 16" E1 ("Cobra R" as the ebay ad says) wheels and tires for sale.
Btw, i like the fast and the furious quote in the profile. It gave me a good chuckle.

Wouldn't ordering a "Mustang" wheel with an "other than Mustang" offset be a catch 22? If it's a Mustang wheel, it fits a Mustang. Not to say that's the only wheel they will fit, but the offset is not correct for our FWD, and they don't make the Cobra R, or any other Mustang wheel in our offset. You'd also be hard pressed to find any wheel manufacturer to make a one off set for you.

I have a CSVT and an 89 stang GT 5.0 w/ 17X9 chrome cobra R's i run in the summer. Tried putting a chrome cobra on the SVT one day when i was bored and it does infact fit...well the passanger side did... thats the only one i tried. It does stick out past the fender a tiny bit though , as stated above, b/c of the wheel being 9in wide. Other than that the wheels look sick on the SVT.

I think if you ran a 9" wide wheel with say a 45 mm offset to tuck it underneath the fender, your going to be hitting the strut. On the back, youll probably be hitting the strut and the fender. Only way to really make this work is to get a widebody kit.

Let not even go into what the incorrect load-line position from the incorrect offset will do to the life of your wheelbearings - i.e. fugg 'em up! Yeah, I know bearings.
