Word. That was my point. I think he's caused so many people to become disillusioned with his message that anything else preaches will be lost on a majority of his potential audience.

The Democratic Party is now the party of MIchael Moore, whether they wanted to be or not. If they ever want to be viable again, they need to distance themselves from the radical left. Given the changes in the House, Senate, governorships, and Bush's reelection, I can't think of a stronger message that the public could have sent about their distaste with Moore and others like him.

Yes, we cannot forget the sacrafice of our Canadian brothers.

58,990 lives given in WWI.

37,476 lives given in WWII.

source

I was not aware that Canada also recognized Nov. 11, our Veteran's day, as a day of remembrance.

Yes ... and for those interested in a statistical comparison, multiply the above numbers by 10, and that gives you what the comparable number of American deaths would be, on a per capita basis. They were huge sacrifices from what is, population wise, a relatively small country.

Don't want to hijack this thread, but i wonder if the origins are the same

Remembrance Day is on the 11th day of the 11th month and the actual remembrance is at the 11th hour - which was the time in 1918 that the armistice was signed ending WWI - same for Veteran's Day?

I had to look this up, since I seriously did not know. I now have a much greater respect for Veterans Day...

Quote:

The Origin of Veterans Day

In 1921, an unknown World War I American soldier was buried in Arlington National Cemetery. This site, on a hillside overlooking the Potomac River and the city of Washington, became the focal point of reverence for America's veterans.

Similar ceremonies occurred earlier in England and France, where an unknown soldier was buried in each nation's highest place of honor (in England, Westminster Abbey; in France, the Arc de Triomphe). These memorial gestures all took place on November 11, giving universal recognition to the celebrated ending of World War I fighting at 11 a.m., November 11, 1918 (the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month). The day became known as "Armistice Day".

Armistice Day officially received its name in America in 1926 through a Congressional resolution. It became a national holidiay 12 years later by similar Congressional action. If the idealistic hope had been realized that World War I was "the War to end all Wars," November 11 might still be called Armistice Day. But only a few years after the holiday was proclaimed, war broke out in Europe. Sixteen and one-half million Americans took part. Four hundred seven thousand of them died in service, more than 292,000 in battle.

Heck no! I'm gonna marry Barbara Jr. and be President in 2016. I might have to settle for Jeanna. She drinks a lot and will be easier. I can get her drunk and pregnant and then she'll have to marry me to support her family's religious platform.

One day you will all call me "sir."
