Hi All

Some of you have read about the 'fun' I had with my tranny, among other things, not a month after I bought the car. Thanks to some help on this forum, and a really good mechanic, my car is now (kinda) okay. Still a bit sluggish, but it runs. I'll worry about that later...

Here's the question:
Paid 4100+tax for the car. The tranny cost me 3800 incl tax, less 910 for the crappy warranty. People have told me that though Ontario doesn't have lemon laws per se, there is a 'merchantable quality' provision in some Consumer Protection legislation, especially if it happens within 60 days.

Does anyone have any experience with this type of thing? I haven't talked to the dealer yet, nor a lawyer. I'll speak to a lawyer before the dealer, but I figured I'd trawl the board first, and see if you guys have any advice/experience.

BTW, the car is a 98SE ATX, so I cant take it to arbitration, as its over 4 years old.

Cheers,
T

If you catch CP24 on the weekends, there's a program called AutoShop. The organization that helps run it with CityTV might be a good start!

AutoShop on Pulse24
