OP toyking New CEG\'er T Joined: Jun 2004 Posts: 14 Little Rock, AR	'98 LX 'tour 2.5 duratec MTX, sometimes at startup, other times when sitting at a light, cant figure it out, cleaned MAS, replaced PCV, changed out air filter, i dont know what else it could be and i couldnt find a thing out by searching, i know im a n00b, but i did try the search first, just didnt turn up any results... help is needed... thanx in advance '98 Contour LX Duratec 2.5 5 speed RE Audio MT 18 (4) JL Audio 1000/1's JL Audio 653-csi JL Audio 300/2

Big Jim_dup1 Hard-core CEG'er B Joined: Sep 2000 Posts: 4,693 Thousand Oaks, California, USA	Clean the throttle body and the idle air control (IAC). The IAC is what control the idle speed. You may have other problems, but start at the device that controls the idle speed that, by the way, is know to cause problems when it ger dirty. In extreme cases, the IAC will need to be replaced, but try cleaning it first. Jim Johnson 98 SVT 03 Escape Limited

hallboy New CEG\'er H Joined: Aug 2004 Posts: 22 Florida	No pics but on the V6 it is on the back right side of the engine. It is easy to see and get to. It is a cylinder witwo bolts and a plug that sticks out to the right. Disconnect the neg on your battery then disconnect the plug from the IAC (Idle air control). There is a neg and pos mark on the end you pull the plug from. If you run wires from your battery to the posts you should hear a very noticable click evey time you connect. You must connect the right polarity or you can damage the IAC. If you don't hear the click pull the IAC and clean with carb cleaner. and try again. You can test when it is off the car.
