its a crank dampener. No, it will no give hp gains. It may actually create a loss in hp.

from what i gathered from the search feature, it allows the engine to rev up quicker and therefor make the engine reach max power faster... is that right?

Do what you said your going to do already.. and give me your change! Haha... You'd have some nice pocket change left, maybe do something aestetical or dress up the audio a bit. You could easily put in a good system for 5-600 bucks. Or, go for a nice set of corbeau's. Truthfully. I'd try and stretch out your oney as far as possible. Tons of simple cheap and effective mods will go far. THigns like fender turn signals($30), tint (200), new mesh grill($10), removing badges (couple bucks), Some silverstars up front (60 bucks), some custom seat patches from me($10), and ofcourse, there are tons of things you could do for a couple 20 spots with LED's. WIsh I had 1200 buckaroos to pimp out a tour.

A DMD. No...
You need to search a LOT better!
It's an NVH mod used to reduce vibrations in the 400HZ range. That's the range you most "feel" when driving.
It will actually cause the engine to rev slower being that it is 2+ lbs heavier then the stock damper.
With it having slightly more mass it will make the engine feel torquier in the lower rpm levels.
