I have been reading through the Audio Forums and I have a question. I have noticed a lot of people talking about putting 5.25" and 6.5" in the doors. How do you fill in the empty space around the speakers since the factory holes are for 5x7/6x8 sized speakers? Can you get mounting plates for them or something? I want to try and design a low cost but still very good sounding system for my Tour. I guess if anything it would be a SQ setup even though I probably will not compete in competitions unless I could make some big money from it.

Just cut some adapter plates out of plywood or MDF with a jigsaw. They'll look something like this:
