It looks like my contour is gone for good, but my daughter seems to be un-injured, except for a little soreness caused by the seat belt. My daughter was approaching an intersection, and attempting to turn left. She was in the left lane of the two southbound lanes, and just prior to the intersection, a left turn lane was added to the highway, making a total of three southbound lanes at that point. My daughter gave a turn signal, and moved into the left turn lane. As she did, someone rammed the back of the contour. Apparently, that car had been behind my daughter, and with the turn lane approaching, had sped up to get around her. Anyway, the front driver's side of the other car slammed squarely into the back of the contour, and spun my daughter around in the road. The back of the contour is in bad shape. Bumper is demolished, fenders are crinkled, gas tank hose is jammed through the fender, trunk lid is warped, and the floor of the trunk is folded inward. The front driver's side of the other car looks about the same.
Here's the interesting scenario. The other driver had only got his car (Eagle Talon, I think) out of the repair shop three weeks ago. The driver apparently was involved in a very similar accident before. Rumor has it that he has been in several accidents recently.
I don't know who was at fault. My daughter did not get a ticket, but that's all I know.
Now I have to decide whether a 95 contour with a weak transmission and a demolished rear end, but everything else in great shape, can be repaired. I suspect the answer is no.

The important thing is that my daughter, and the other guy, were not injured.
