I was thinking about trading my Contour for a Contour SVT, cuz my old Contour needs alot of body and engine work done to it to make it look/perform how I want it too.
I was wondering how much faster is the SVT and how relaible??? Or should I just go with a different car?? THANKS ALL!

I had a 98.5 Contour SE (Zetec ATX) prior to buying my CSVT. It was a night and day difference. Both are enjoyable cars, but the SVT is alot better.

No way, you know the zetec atx is a lot faster than the SVT.

I just recently bought a used one, and I look forward to driving everyday again. My acura never gave me that feeling. The exhaust note and styling/handling is worth it even if you don't take advantage of the extra power.

Emin,

I can probably relate with you more than most people on here. I too had a 95 V6 MTX, and recently upgraded to an SVT. It truly is night and day. Now, I did have a tired engine (nearly 200k) that definately wasn't pulling as well as it once did, but its still night and day. You'll definately feel it!

Also, the shifting is VERY different. Going from the Rod to the Cable is a bigger difference than I thought.

Do it! I'm so glad I did, and I'm not looking back for a second. !

I drove a 96 MTX SE, and was happy with the upgrade when I bought my SVT. However, I actually liked the shift feel in my SE better. Not that I dislike my SVT's shifting, but the rod shifter felt like a much shorter throw, and more precise as well. If you love your SE, get the SVT as a tribute to it and enjoy the upgraded performance. Really can't say enough about the older SE's though. They were truly a great effort by Ford. It's not often you can say that. I gave mine to my dad so that I can still drive it once in a while.
