Just traded my SVT in on a 2000 Audi S4. I have to say that with all the issues as of late, I am so glad to see her go. If anyone wants the car, I would check the local PHX auctions. It was a money pit for me, but if you picked it up for 5 or 6 grand, you are stoked. It has a new 3.0L and lots of goodies. I just couldn't do it anymore... It was bad on my constitution! =-)

Good luck! S4's are not exactly reliable either. Have all the vac lines been replaced?

I don't miss my Sc 3L cougar either, the STi is turn key and takes all the abuse I can give it without me having to turn a wrench.

I offer PnP Heads for all durtec's details at PnPheads.com or jesse@pnpheads.com for details.

wow-
what was wrong with it?

Congrats on the 2000 S4, i was thinking, it's one of the few V6 FI cars on the market today (by FI, I mean turbo, those merc s/c don't count!)

There's SO MUCH aftermarket hype on those, don't know if you're going to venture into it, but WOW, slap on some new turbos, new intercoolers, and RS4 piggyback ECU and you're clocking 12's!!

Sorry to see it go. . .

Aren't you comparing an older car to a brand new car?

That's one of my dream cars! I hate you!

Knowing what you've been through, I would probably do the same. I've actually thought about doing the same thing, same car, except the wife would probably kill me! It's always been between the previous M3 or S4 for me, with the exception of the new Legacy GT...I really like that car!

Congratulations! Hopefully, you'll still hangout here once in a while....

first off congrads. the S4 is a wonderful machine. although you did buy the wrong year! the 00' are notorius for tranny death, chiped gears, ect. the problem was addressed in the 01's. other than that the car has its own gremlins just like the contours just not as many.

S4 again is an awesome car. stock xenon headlights,2.7Ltt,6spd,and quattro your big time now. all you need is a chip for more boost, and exhaust. these cars are monsters i love driving them. it looks like a a4 with cooler front bumper and wheels. and is sooooooooo fast.

they still have the sleeper image of the svt's. but are totaly different when it comes to power.

another similar thing about the S4 like the svt.love the car, hate to work on it, no room you know. if i owned an s4 i would pay someone else to work on it , you'll find out soon enough. - BE CAREFUL WITH THE TRANNY - !!!

It seems a bit ironic to know that this forum is for people who are looking to turn a wrench and make something unique and hopefully better than what they had, yet here we have two former owners come in and say how glad they are that they don't have to wrench anymore.
I have consistently had one of, if not the best running, highly modified contours out there when it comes to good driveability and reliability. Except in one circumstance, I've been able to just turn the key and go thrash on it as much as I want. All my tuning is done only with pump gas and all my dyno numbers posted reflect real world results that I will get driving on the street. The ONLY grief my car has ever given me was because I failed to do something I should have in either the planning or execution of the modifications I started. I know there are lemons out there from each model and when you get one of those the best thing is to get rid of it.

Pojay, I'm sorry to hear its gone but an S4 is a worthy replacement. I hope you keep us posted if you get the mod bug and start working on it.
